Replaces aging and costly to run wire facsimile recorders with the power

and reliability of windows NT and the convenience of Windows 95.



Wire Fax  has all the functionality of Weather fax for Windows 95 but

with the enhanced ability to receive the AM mode transmitted by regional

met-centres to airports around the world. The received images can be

processed and retransmitted by telefax or Email via Windows messaging.



This system was adapted for and in conjunction with, the Aeronautical

station operators of Lisbon International Airport ANA.



Software is extremely easy to set up. A fine tuning control on the

demodulator allows the black level to be adjusted.



System signal specifications:



Receives AM 2400Hz subcarrier with subtone modulation: 650 mv p/p

Black, 350 mv p/p white. This format is sent over a leased line.

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION



HARDWARE

Demodulator: Consists of stand alone 8 bit microprocessor

digitizing signal at up to 2560 bytes per second. All signal processing 

is done off line minimizing machine load. The data is downloaded via 

serial port which also supplies the power to the demodulator. 



The demodulator is software configurable to run on COM1 through

COM4 (COM 10 on win 95). Multiple demodulators can receive multiple

faxes simultaneously through different COM. ports.



SOFTWARE

Weather Fax for Windows is written in Microsoft C++ and thus 

integrates itself seamlessly into the Windows environment. Several

months have been dedicated to rigorous system testing on a wide variety 

of different manufacturer's machines.



DOCUMENTATION AND ON LINE HELP

The power of Windows help is used to  the fullest here. The context 

sensitive help not only explains every corner of the program but also has 

an in depth guide to the World of Weather Fax. Point to the area of water 

you are sailing in and see the fax stations for that area listed along with 

their frequencies and schedules. In some cases, there are editorial notes 

from sailors who have used the stations.
